Meet Frankie, the Melbourne Makeup Artist blending alternative aesthetics and storytelling

One of our favourite talented people to work with is the amazing makeup artist Frankie. From retro punk to elegant glamour looks, Frankie can do it all. In 2025, Frankie became a core member of the Revival Runway family, and we are so happy to have them.

HOW IT BEGAN

“I’m a bi gender-fluid makeup artist based in Melbourne,” explains Frankie. “I studied from 2018 to 2019 at Melbourne Polytechnic for the Diploma of Screen and Media [Specialist Makeup Services], and I have been working in the field for seven years including photoshoots, indie films, music videos and weddings. I very recently added club events and runway shows [to my repertoire too]!”

Frankie began her creative makeup career backstage: “My artistic practice is ever-evolving and free flowing [but] I started my craft by helping fellow performers get ready backstage at dance recitals and school productions.”

“What I love most about my work is being able to empower my clients with makeup. I enjoy bringing out the best of their features in a way that they might have not thought of.

“My creative style ranges from dark and edgy to bright and colourful — if you want strikingly bold, I’m there for it.”

THE ART OF STORYTELLING

According to Frankie, their inspiration comes from a wide range of sources, from high fashion to drag artists and “alternative aesthetics”.

“I’ve always loved the art of storytelling through film and music videos. I’m inspired by artists such as Val Garland, Ophelia Liu and Kate Reynolds.

“[And] I’m very passionate about supporting upcoming alternative artists in the Australian music scene. I would most like to work with the likes of Terra Rouge, Emmy Mack and Days Like These.

As for the future? “My main long term goal is to work with more artists and musicians for music videos, performances and events,” says Frankie.
