Row, a Melbourne-based influencer and trans icon, is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. “I’m a fashion stylist by day and a Registered Nurse by night, basically it is Fashion and Passion.”
MODEL IN THE MAKING
Despite her beauty, and despite the fabulous images on this page, Row says she’s not really a ‘model’: “I am not a model, for now! But if the opportunity presents itself, I would love to grab and seize it!”
Row first started doing runway shows for her friends: “Mickey in the Van by Estelle, Malcolm Paul Couture by Paul, Smena by Jaki and AKA art wear by Kaye to mention some. And now, I am walking for Nathan [Vann]!
“Doing runways gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of creatives in the Melbourne Fashion Community which in turn gave me a lot of opportunities, fashion wise. Plus, I’ve gained myself a family, a very fashionable one that is,” says Row.
“In terms of self perception, it has made me want to strive more towards perfection! I reiterate, towards perfection, and not strive for perfection. Perfection after all is an elusive and relative concept. Basically, I just want to look my best, wearing the best clothes.”
LOOKING GOOD MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER
Row’s warm personality and genuine interest in people, in communicating with them and helping them out, has made her a bit of an icon in the Melbourne trans community. The way she happily and openly lives her fashionably fun life is uplifting.
“Being a trans woman has significantly influenced my fashion career. I feel like I’m just more attractive and better eye candy in women’s clothing when I look, act and feel like a woman,” Row explains.
“Fashion and style has always been important to me. Apart from being a tangible extension of my personality and character, it also serves as an armour. It protects me from the harsh and appalling realities of everyday life.
“I feel like I can take on any challenge that life has to offer when I look and feel good. If my day turned out to be bad, well at least I looked good and that will immediately make everything seem better.”
Row has also been amazingly open about her cosmetic surgery journey, showing her recent nose job and recovery on her Instagram account @iamrowrowjr.
“I love cosmetic surgery! I love anything that preserves my body! And by preserve, I mean altering for improvement in function and aesthetic,” Row says.
“I truly think cosmetic surgery is meant to perfect God’s best creation, humans.”
QUEER BY DESIGN
Row is excited to walk the runway again, this time for Revival Runway at the Queer By Design show. She says that being a part of this collaboration with Melbourne nonprofit community organisation Queer Connect is important to her.
“Visibility and inclusivity is imperative in the fashion industry, because it utilises platforms that reach a wide array of audiences,” says Row.
“Hence, it is so important to consider every minute detail that we put out there for people to perceive so we can convey the right message across.
“Being a part of this runway showcases the unity and solidarity within the LGBTQI+ community.”
