New brand Revolt is reshaping the fashion landscape, one rebellious stitch at a time

Meet the dynamic duo behind brand new Geelong-based fashion label Revolt, Kate Yoffa and Hayley Colla.

“Launching a brand together has always been a dream. Our brand’s grand entrance into the style scene is now, marking the realisation of a shared dream,” the two founders explain. “Consider this your front-row ticket to our spectacular debut, months in the making.”

Revolt will be showing – and launching – at the Revival Runway fashion event Creative Coast on Sunday 25 February at the stunning The Pier venue in Geelong. This will be the brand’s first outing, and Revival Runway’s first show outside of Melbourne.

THE FASHION JOURNEY & BRAND INCEPTION

“Picture this – back in 2015, two creative souls, destined for the runway, crossed paths at The Gordon, Victoria’s largest regional stand-alone TAFE, during a fateful first week,” explain Kate and Hayley.

“United by either fate or an undeniable passion for fashion, we embarked on a journey through the vibrant world of design. As we honed our craft, the natural evolution from making our own clothes led us to dream bigger. The idea of launching our brand was born from a shared love for rebellion and a desire to seize control over our style narrative.”

According to Kate and Hayley, the brand name, Revolt, “encapsulates our love for rebellion and our unapologetic control over what we wear and what we want the world to wear,” they say.

Hayley and Kate in their element

“In a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, our brand stands proudly, a bit out of the ordinary, just like our fashion philosophy.”

With the current state of the fashion industry which includes issues of sustainability, ethical consumption, transparency in supply chains, alongside global economic downturns and Australia’s ongoing cost-of-living concerns, one might wonder why anyone would want to start a new fashion label.

“Why launch Revolt? Well, let’s spill the tea. The fashion scene was drowning in a sea of fast fashion replicas – cheap, fleeting, and lacking soul. We saw a gap and decided, ‘Why not us?’ The result: Revolt,” the two explain.

“Starting wasn’t a walk in the park, but hey, fashion isn’t about easy routes, right? We faced our fair share of challenges, but each hurdle fuelled our determination to bring something fresh to the table.

“Enter the mission: Revolt is the rebel yell against the mundane. We’re here to rescue fashion from the clutches of mass production. Our creations aren’t just threads; they’re stories, expressions, and statements.

“Every piece is meticulously designed with a fusion of uniqueness and functionality. We’re not just clothing; we’re a rebellion against the ordinary, one stitch at a time. Get ready to wear your attitude, your way.”

INSPIRED BY …

Hayley and Kate say that they are inspired by the people around them, especially local style stars and experiencing the particular joy that are Aussie music festivals.

“We also like to venture into the captivating realm of Pinterest,” they say. “Local vibes, global flair – that’s the Revolt way.”

“Revolt isn’t just a brand; it’s a revolution against the mundane, a call to arms against fast fashion’s fleeting trends. We champion the rebel spirit, urging you to break free from the norm.

“Our concept is simple but powerful: Say no to disposable trends and yes to timeless pieces. We’re here to redefine your wardrobe, one quality piece at a time. Invest in fashion that tells a story that you’ll love not just for a season, but forever. With Revolt, your rebellion starts with your wardrobe.

THE REVOLT STYLE

Kate and Hayley describe the brand’s style as a mix of functionality and a bold aesthetic.

“Picture this: Bold strokes of rebellion meet the sleek lines of functionality. That’s the aesthetic heartbeat of Revolt. We’re not just about clothes; we’re about making a statement.

“Our designs breathe with boldness, each stitch echoing the rebellious spirit that defines us. But it’s not just about the roar; it’s about the functionality that stands tall beside the rebellion.

“Revolt’s aesthetic is a harmonious dance between the audacious and the practical, creating a unique visual symphony that resonates with those who dare to defy the ordinary.

“Imagine clothing that’s not just an outfit but an experience. Revolt is your go-to for festival wear that’s as vibrant and energetic as the events you love.”

SUSTAINABILITY, ETHICS & COMMUNITY

As with all fashion labels now, Kate and Hayley have considered the ongoing and serious issues of sustainability in production, and the ethics of running a brand.

“Revolt is not just about style; it’s about responsibility. We’ve woven sustainability into the very fabric of our brand,” they say.

“Our commitment to ethical fashion is reflected in our material choices. We’ve scoured the globe for ethically sourced materials, from salvaged scraps that were destined for the landfill to breathing new life into secondhand treasures from thrift shops.

“At Revolt, every stitch is a testament to our dedication to a fashion future that treads lightly on the planet. Join us in the rebellion for a more sustainable and ethical fashion world – where style doesn’t cost the earth.”

The designers say: “Every piece is a testament to our passion for rebellion, meticulously crafted by skilled hands that believe in the power of unique design.”

Hayley and Kate also believe strongly in the importance of creating a community around their brand.

“Revolt isn’t just about what you wear; it’s a statement of your values. Join the rebellion for sustainable, ethical fashion that doesn’t compromise on style.

“We’re not just a brand; we’re a community. Embracing the local spirit, Revolt is proudly crafted on home soil, supporting the talent and creativity that Australia has to offer.”

THE FUTURE FOR REVOLT

Hayley and Kate are passionate about working hard on ensuring Revolt not only survives but succeeds.

“We aim to stand tall as a recognised force in the fashion landscape, proudly waving the flag of ethical and locally crafted festival wear. Our vision extends beyond the runway; we’re on a mission to make Revolt a household name nationwide,” they say.

“Imagine a wardrobe where rebellion and ethics coexist, and every piece tells a story of conscious fashion. That’s not just a goal; it’s a revolution in the making. Join us on this journey as we redefine festival fashion, one ethical thread at a time. The future looks bold, and we’re here for it.

“Revolt isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement. Join us in reshaping the fashion landscape, one rebellious stitch at a time. Welcome to the revolution.”
