Merri is an Australian fashion brand with boho Mori Girl style combined with influences from the 50s, 60s and 70s. The feel is light, floaty and feminine with soft colours and lightly floral prints on all natural materials. 

“At Merri I wanted to create beautiful clothing and accessories with meaning and soul. Exquisite items that can be worn both day and night, from beach to bar. Items that can be passed down to your daughter, then theirs. Real heirloom pieces, timeless and classic,” explains founder and designer Rhea.

According to Rhea, the brand was “born out of a love affair with my mothers’ wardrobe”, and explains that the name she chose means joyous and happy.

 The collections are relatively limited and once sold out, they are not restocked. The garments are non-mass produced and ethically handmade, with the idea that the pieces will last long enough to become heirlooms.

I care deeply about our environment and believe in conscious creation. I work hard to deliver collections that are equal parts beauty and heart and that are a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable future,” writes Rhea on the brand’s website.

“You will only ever find your Merri pieces handmade from natural fibres such as cotton, linen and hemp. You will often see an injection of dead stock and vintage fabrics – that I have lovingly collected over the years – fabrics that may have otherwise ended up in landfill. 

“Every fabric I choose is carefully selected for its reduced impact on our environment and uncompromising beauty,” says Rhea.

There is also an ethical component to the brand’s production. According to Rhea, “every single Merri piece is made ethically and with so much love by a husband and wife team in the middle of Denpasar, Bali.”

Rhea says that buying a piece from her brand is not only supporting her dreams, but also “the livelihoods of every single person involved in the process”.
